zivilib.gif (4208 bytes) MOST SIGNIFICANT PROJECT EVER

The effects of ziviliw.gif (4208 bytes)recent trip to perform for refugees and persons displaced by the war in former Yugoslavia touched thousands of lives. Many people said that the day ziviliw.gif (4208 bytes)came to perform at their camp was the first happy day they have had since leaving their towns and villages over 6 years ago.  ziviliw.gif (4208 bytes)mission is to preserve and to share the rich cultural legacies---the colorful folk traditions---of Southern Slavic nations. During the summer of 1997, we witnessed first-hand in refugee camps throughout Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia, the tremendous healing power of dance and music. These experiences caused us to expand our understanding and broaden our notion about the enduring significance that art plays in its ability to heal spirits and soothe souls.
