Anchor roller instalation on Pearson 30  Opus #996

I selected the Windline BRM-3 roller after looking at several because I thought it would allow a more custom instalation and keep the bow looking better on the Pearson 30. also I wanted the bolts to go throught he deck and not the toe rail for strength.  I also wanted all the modification to be done on the roller in case I wanted to remove it all I would have to do is fill a few holes. I do not like the appearance of the anchor raised far above the deck level as some rollers cause. I removed some stainless from the starbord side to the aft cross bolt using the radius of the bolt hole to soften the cut.  Then relocated cross bolt to remaining flange area. I am sure the BRM3 is more than strong enough to accept the modification.  Next, I notched the starboard side of the roller to let it nestle just right, some trimming by the stay to get it pointing directly to the cleat, and on to the mounting plate.

The mounting plate is made of Corian, which is very strong, uv stable, easily worked to a nice finish and best of all never needs varnish. I left some room between the toe rail and the corian to allow for cleaning.  After enlarging the core in the mounting holes, (good dry core :-) and filling with thickened epoxy, all was mounted using oversized ss washers underneath as the area under the forward bow is very irregular, not allowing for a plate.

Finished job, I was very pleased with the look and extermely pleased with the ease of dropping and retrieving the "bruce"
