woodstock '69 lives - August 15, 16, 17, 1969

Welcome to the Woodstock '69 Lives Page!!!! This site is dedicated to the Woodstock Music and Art Fair which occurred in White Lake / Bethel, NY on August 15,16,17 in the year 1969. Billed as "3 Days of Peace and Music", the Woodstock Festival was a turning point for a nation of indiviuals that stood for peace, understanding and love.

I hope all the hippies out there, young and old, can enjoy this site about one of the great music festivals of the year 1969. Let me know what you think about this site full of WOODSTOCK ! ! !

A huge list of links for each performer at Woodstock

Actually, I haven't had a chance to update these in a LONG time. Don't forget that Wikipedia.org is your friend.

<NEW!!!>August 08, 2007 What's new, people! Well, not much here I have to say. I made some small tweaks to the real schedule pagfe and fixed a link that probably been broken since the day the page was made about 4 years ago. Ha! Anyways, with the approach of another anniversary, I figured I'd give a shout out to all my brothers and sisters. Keep the peace alive!

There are some concerts coming up at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (aka the Original Woodstock Site). On August 11th, 2007 they are having what is called "Hippiefest" which includes several performers who were at the original Woodstock: The Turles, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals (Felix was in The Band who played at Woodstock), The Zombies (it's the time of the season for loving), Mountain (who played at Woodstock), Denny Laine (of The Moody Blues fame), Badfinger, and Country Joe McDonaly (who played not once but TWICE at Woodstock in 1969).

Another concert at Bethel Woods is a concert on August 17th, 2007 with Arlo Guthrie and Richie Havens, both of whom played on August 15th at the original Woodstock in 1969. This should be a fantastic concert! Too bad I don't live in New York. :(

By the way, if you really love Woodstock and have a spare $8 million laying around, you can buy Max Yasgur's old fram. Read about it here or here or here. This is NOT the site of the actual festival, but it did belong to Max and is fairly nearby I believe. Over the years there have been a few festivals, but the locals have never been that supportive of them (or the original for that matter). If you do buy it, let me know. :)

07/04/06 Hey kids! Just droppin' in to say 'Hello'. I've added some long overdue information to the discography and bibliography section (which includes videos and such). And, if I haven't mentioned it before, checked out The Woodstock Project. Kenny and Scott have done a TON of research in order to figure out what was played and have attempted to put together the complete music of Woodstock. Not a small undertaking! Other than that, not much else is new around here. Sorry if you find cobwebs hanging around, but I don't get to work on the site as much as I would like to nowadays. But still, there is plenty of info to be found here and elsewhere. Take care! Peace!!!

08/14/05 Just poppin' in to try to do my annual cleanup of the website and to say Happy 36th Birthday Woodstock! Not much new going on. Artie Kornfeld has a new book out. Check it out the book, 30 Years of Peace and Music and Other Things at Artie's website or the website for the book itself. I might have to pick myself up a copy, which also comes with an audio CD, though I'm not exactly sure what it has. I think Artie might be reading some passages or something. Neither website exactly gets down to the point as to what the audio CD has on it.

And as always, thank you everyone for visiting the website. I hope it provides you with the memories and information you need. Take Care! PEACE!!!

08/16/04 - As Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young say "It's been a long time comin'." I figured I would jump in and say "Happy 35th Birthday Woodstock!". Not much has changed on the site in the past year and half. Then again, Woodstock was 35 years ago so there isn't much more to report. But I am alive, and in a certain demographic of people out there the Woodstock spirit is still alive. I've heard reports that people have once again made the trek to the home of Woodstock in Bethel / White Lake, NY. Haven't heard any reports myself of the situations that have occurred in the past few years (dumping chicken manure on the site, using large earth moving equipment to block the road, etc)... and that I think is promising. I'm not certain on the state of the Gerry affairs to turn the site into a rock n roll museum of sorts. I heard that they did break ground though or are going to do so very soon.

There is going to be a reunion on August 20th - 22nd this year (2004). Here are some details about the reunion get-together and concert including directions to the Yasgur Farm site. I'm glad that the Bethel town counsel issued them a permit and allowed the spirit of Woodstock and its music to continue on.

03/08/03 - Well, the site has been revamped again. I've reviewed the 'Woodstock Diaries' DVD from England and will post that review soon. I've also gone through the links and gotten rid of the dead ones and added a few live ones. Sorry for the lack of pictures. I was ordered by several photographers to remove the scans that I had, so the site is now picture-less. I hope to contact the photographers and see if they will allow me to post a few Woodstock-specific photos. Wish me luck.

Take a look around tell me what you think. I truly appreciate all the responses I get. It makes me glad to know that I am making others happy when they see my page. If you have any comments concerning the layout, the download speed, anything!, drop me a note.

        PEACE! ---- Darrin     :D
