I have been following the recent discussion regarding the consequences that might occur if a retired military person was to break their secrecy agreement.

The experience that I have is with my partner's dad, who is a retired Lt. Colonel, USAF intelligence. In response to questions about UFO's and the involvement of the Air Force, he will only say that a lot has gone on and to talk about it would put him, and us, in terrible danger. This doesn't sound like a fear of losing his pension, to me. This is a man who started in the Army and became Air Force in 1947. The Air Force subsequently paid for him to get a graduate degree in communications at Yale.

My partner describes his childhood of many moves to and from numerous Air Force bases and long absences of Dad on secret assignments, when contact could only be made through his CO. Then there was the discovery of one of Dad's notebooks during a childhood search of his desk. This notebook contained drawings that at the time, my partner thought were cartoon people, but now recognizes them as "greys", as well as what seemed to be a symbol type writing. This occurred in 1956.

We have all found his refusal to tell us anything to be incredibly frustrating. He is now in his 80's, but insists that what he knows will go to the grave with him. He is adamant that it is not safe for him to speak. Fear of loss of pension? I don't think so. This is a man who was rah, rah military, and now vehemently hates the military. Curious.

I suspect that those who have spoken, don't have the "real skinny." Those that do, will probably never reveal what they know.

January 19, 1999 – Susan Watson

I am the daughter of the referred-to officer. My brother and I did not know the specific details of Dad's duties when we were young, but as all children do we heard and observed what transpired within our home. It was not until later in our lives that we became fully aware of the depth of his involvement.

My father is no coward. He put his life on the line for his country more than once. He shed his blood during war for this country. Eventually, he lost his wife and marriage because his first sworn duty was to this country. Dad was not present in our lives most of the time. He was away performing his assigned duty. What was he doing? He was giving every ounce of himself to help secure the safety of you and yours.

Last night I had a long talk with Dad. The issues raised on this List [ufomind.com] woke my curiosity once again. As I got deeper into trying to pick his brain for answers I felt a sense of shame. The conclusion I arrived at is this:

Never once has my father swayed from his loyalty and commitment to his country. There is honor in this man's heart. He holds to his pledge in spite of the fact that he is grievously disappointed in the direction of our nation. It would be disrespectful for me to attempt any further extractions of information. I am closing the book. I can at least honor the man…if not the country that created him.

According to Science, January 22, 1999, scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, near Moscow, have unveiled evidence for the creation of a nucleus with 114 protons, the heaviest element yet created. Although some transuranic isotopes last for years, the last such element created is 112 and it lasts for only 280 seconds. Theorists have predicted, however, that this trend toward instability would be reversed as additional neutrons and protons filled in nuclear shells. More work is required to confirm this find. What will the scientists find when they create 115? Will Bob Lazar be proven right or, more likely, will his story finally be laid to rest? We shall see.

The following are excerpts from an article quoting Dr. Edgar Mitchell that originally appeared in The People [London, England], 25 October 1998, and later appeared in UFO Magazine, Volume 17, No. 5, pp. 18 and 19.

"I am an American astronaut and a scientist and because of my position, people in high places confide in me. And, as a result, I have no doubt that aliens have visited this planet. The American government and governments throughout the world have thousands of files of UFO sightings which cannot be explained.

"As a former astronaut, the military people who have access to these files are more willing to talk to me than to people they regard as mere cranks. The stories I have heard from these people, who are more highly qualified than me to talk about UFOs, leave me in no doubt that aliens have already visited Earth…I've heard convincing stories about governments all over the world that know of alien visits – including the British government.

"Modern UFO sightings really began with the Roswell incident in 1947, when a crashed craft containing the corpses of several aliens was found in Roswell, New Mexico. Make no mistake, Roswell happened. I've seen secret files which show the government knew about it – but decided not to tell the public.

"There were very good security reasons for not informing the public about Roswell. Quite simply, we wouldn't have known how to deal with the technology of intelligent beings advanced enough to send a craft to Earth. The world would have panicked if we'd known aliens were visiting us. The question of whether aliens are still visiting us is more complex.

"Such is our existing secret technology that what might look like an alien craft may well turn out to be a top-secret military plane. On the other hand, the craft may be an alien spaceship.

"Contrary to rumour, there are no alien buildings or structures on the Moon. I should know, I was there! I even became caught up in these rumours when a theory started that a Moon structure was reflected on my helmet during TV transmissions of my landing. That just isn't true.

"It's that kind of disinformation which stops credible people admitting that they too believe in aliens. Thankfully, things are changing for the better…It helps too that those in possession of documentation of alien visits to Earth are starting to come forward. The military people I spoke to are tired of the secrecy surrounding Roswell and similar cases, particularly as the information is being leaked.

"I firmly believe that this documentation will have to be made public within the next three or four years. And if proof of ETs is finally made public, nobody will be happier than me.

"What I don't think will happen is that I will ever see an extraterrestrial. I'd love to see one, though it's not the biggest priority in my life. But, as they say on a TV show I'm involved with, the truth is out there."

Paul R. Hill was a respected NASA scientist who held the position of Supervising Engineer and Principal Investigator at NASA's Langley Research Center for 30 years. After experiencing his own UFO sighting in the early 1950's, Hill began to study what he termed Unconventional – as opposed to Unidentified – Flying Objects. He focused his study on their propulsion and maneuvering abilities. When he retired in1970, he began to write about his findings. His book, entitled Unconventional Flying Objects – A Scientific Analysis, published after his death, presents the results of his study. What UFO Magazine has called "arguably the best, most comprehensive and technically challenging book ever written and published about the physics, engineering, navigation, and propulsive technologies of UFO's," is the most through and detailed work of its kind. Ingo Swann, a renowned psi researcher and remote viewer recently published one of the most intriguing books I have read in a long time. The book, entitled Penetration – The Question of Extraterrestrial and Human Telepathy, reveals a long-held personal secret of his experiences with a "deep black" project whose apparent charter involved the presence of extraterrestrials and UFOs on the Moon. The agency, according to Swann's contact, was (is?) so secret that it existed without a paper trail. Hence, while he was sworn to a 10-year secrecy agreement, he signed no written document attesting to this. It expired several years ago. If it weren't for the veracity of Ingo Swann, I wouldn't take this book seriously for a moment. However, Mr. Swann's reputation is excellent.
