Chapel

Our chapel is located in one of the large rooms of the house (formerly the recreation room). Remodeled with parts of the icon screen from our former residence, it evokes the feeling of one of the many small chapels in Greece. The Chapel is dedicated to the Mother of God of Consolation (Panaghia Paramythea), the original icon of which is found in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos. Our community treasures a copy of this wonder-working icon given to one of the monks by Fr. Ephrem, the Abbot of Vatopedi. In the chapel, prayers are offered several time a day for ourselves and the world at large.

Remodeling the chapel was no easy task. The room was originally a family/recreation room in a South Seas motif. The monks, with much help of Geza Takacs of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, John Antjas of Marion, Ohio, Fr. Bohdan Hladio, of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, we were able to covert the chapel into what you see below.

Here are some pictures of the chapel construction, first Divine Liturgy and Metropolitan Maximos's first visit.
