Our Reasoning Behind the Republican Gender Gap!!
December 1998

For the last several years the mainstream media has played up the fact that the Republicans have not been able to court as many women voters as the Democrats. This small fact has created what some call a huge problem for Republicans. This may be true, although we at Washington Watch Magazine do not believe it is as big a problem as the media makes it out to be. We also believe that this same set of facts can be used to show that the Democrats have a gender gap too. They have not been able to get as many men to vote for them as the Republicans.

But putting all those arguments aside we would like to know why the Republicans have such a gender gap with women. We have thought about this and come away with what we believe is the best answer anyone has given to date.

There are several trends that have surfaced throughout the Impeachment proceedings that help show the basis behind the Republican's problems with getting women to support their ideas. The Republicans have constantly been arguing that Democrats and the White House have not been discussing or arguing any facts in the Monica Lewinsky case. While the Republicans say they are constantly telling the people about the facts.

The Democrats have been saying things such as "Everyone lies about sex" and "We can't get rid of a President the American people like and voted into office twice". They also use several other such emotional arguments.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media follows the Democratic example in giving out emotional "news". Why? The media has as it's core audience, women. And because of this they must format there news toward women in order to have higher ratings in order to make money. Simple science tells us that women and men are different. And simple science will tell us that women are more emotional. This helps to explain many of today's trends.

The Democrats, including the White House and the Media, have decided to play toward this fact and have used purely emotional arguments in most everything they discuss. It is because of this, we believe, that the gender gap for the Republicans and also the opposite gender gap for the Democrats has been created.

We are not here to say that all men or all women always vote facts or emotions. But we would like to submit that they do it more often than most people are willing to admit, thus our reason behind the Gender Gap.
