Democratic Conspiracy or Lack of Work Ethic
November 1998
A dangerous item has become known in various districts across America. For a voting booth or polling station to stay open, an even number of Republican and Democrat volunteers must be at each site. Volunteers would be paid about 100 dollars to work at the station all day. Many stations in the past few years, especially in large Midwestern cities, have been closed because the requirements could not be met. This means the people would have to travel farther to vote in another district. In Columbus, Ohio, alone over 200 people were still needed by the Friday before elections. A call went out via radio to ask for more volunteers.
By Friday afternoon, over 134 of those positions had been filled, but there was still a huge problem. All 66 positions left, were for Democrats. Several people started speculating what this meant or could mean. They found that the results could be very dangerous.
Many people knew that if one had to travel farther than expected, then they may not vote. Especially those that had to be at work during the day, and did not have much time to wait or travel farther. Would these districts be Republican voting districts, thus keeping the Republican turnout lower?
Some have suggested that the Democrats know that they cannot "win" elections fairly in the last few years. So they need to come up with this knew devious plan to keep Republicans away from the polls. Although I am not one who believes this to be the case, I do believe that this is a sign of the Democrats work ethic. They will not volunteer for things, because they believe in social welfare. It must be brought to them, not them going to help others. It is a really sad day, when this type of work ethic has evolved into our society.
This problem has not only existed in this year's election, but it has also been apparent in the past several elections. What can be done about it? Not much if you are part of the party that volunteers, but I would suggest that we all take a look at our own work ethic and strive to improve ourselves. This is just another sign of how welfare has hurt America.
