Nancy Drew:
Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon

HerInteractive

Introduction

Nancy finds herself stuck on a train with Frank and Joe Hardy (who are part of ATAC during the events of this mystery) and a few other "famous" people.

Positives

Having never played a Nancy Drew game before, I was unsure what to expect. Going into the game, I was first thinking about this was going to be similar to Myst. To be honest, I haven't really played Myst, so I could be way off, but for some reason that game was sticking in my mind.

Anyway, the reason I bought this game was because Frank and Joe Hardy were making a special guest appearance. That gives the game a couple bonus points right away.

I was very pleased with the graphics of the game. Both the characters and the sets were very nicely done and fit the story line nicely.

The sound was done very well too. For 20 dollars I honestly didn't expect as much in both graphics and sound as was presented.

I think the puzzles were pretty much right on track in difficulty. Not too hard and not too easy.

Negatives

A couple of the puzzles were a little too tough though for this first time mystery gamer. The dolls were some of the hardest. Especially when trying to figure out what doll had what name. This is where a couple of the graphics could have been done a little clearer. Hair? Black Hair? I couldn't tell that was black hair.

The hardcore gaming will say this game was too short. I don't think so though. When taking into consideration that some of the people that will be playing this game will be less of a hard core gamer and more of a casual fan, the length of the game is probably perfect.

I did find myself getting a little frustrated at times trying to figure out why I couldn't do something yet. The piano seemed to take forever. When will the train stop?

Conclusion

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It was a good change of pace from the Day of Defeat: Source and Counter Strike: Source type of games I have been playing lately.
