Parippu

The following recipe makes about 3 quarts of Parippu.

Ingredients:

Fry moong dhal in low heat for about 15 minutes in a skillet making sure that it does not burn. Cook the fried dhal, water and turmeric powder in a covered steel vessel until it becomes very tender. Grind the coconut, cumin seeds, garlic and 1 stem curry leaves to paste. Add the paste to the cooked dhal. Continue cooking, stirring well. Make sure that the mixture does stick to the bottom of the vessel. Cook until boil. Turn off the heat. Add the remaining curry leaves.
