(Dean Martin Presents) The Golddiggers kicks off its second summer season tonight at 10. Dino’s daughter Gail Martin, Paul Lynde and Lou Rawls are the major ingredients of this summer series, along with the dancing Golddiggers. |
|
Paul Lynde carries the brunt of the hour in blackouts on a military school, answering services, celebrities as kids, and crazy inventions. Lou Rawls puts pep into songs like ‘My Buddy,’ and works with Miss Martin in a medley of oldies. Stanley Myron Handelman, a second summer man, plays it cool with an amorous Golddigger, while the show’s top spot falls to newcomer Albert Brooks with an amusing frog and elephant routine. |

“The Golddiggers do musical takeoffs on famous movie stars; Paul Lynde plays an overly passionate pianist.” |
|
“With Paul Lynde in command during the blackouts, Dino’s summer series manages to hold up without trying too hard. Tonight, Lynde scores as a pianist who butters up the ladies; Stanley Myron Handelman takes a big Golddigger to dinner; guest comedian Jackie Gayle talks about vacation problems; and the chorus line mimics movie stars and old tunes like ‘Moon Over Manakoora.” Lou Rawls and Gail Martin dip into songs from the thirties, and the cast concludes with a salute to the hits of 1929.” |

“Paul Lynde and Lou Rawls try not to feel like outcasts tonight. Guest Deanna Martin and sister Gail bounce around with a couple of young Fred Astaires – Tommy Tune and Danny Lockin - kidding the old ragtime era, and later the boys work with The Golddiggers too. Rawls turns on his fluid voice for 'One For My Baby,' Paul Lynde becomes a psychiatrist and a plumber in sketches with straight woman Gail Martin, and Stanley Myron Handelman takes a Tunnel of Love trip with yet another Golddigger.” |

Paul Lynde is a plumber bemoaning the problems of his trade. |

“Lou Rawls, Gail Martin, & Paul Lynde welcome Stu Gilliam.” |
|
"Paul Lynde and Stu Gilliam work with a group of newcomers in the blackout department on 'The Golddiggers,' tonight at 10… A team called Fiore and Eldridge become a frantic couple about to be wed, youngster Allison McKay works on father Paul Lynde, and Stu Gilliam reports on travel abroad. Regular Stanley Myron Handleman has dated just about every Golddigger as he invites Peggy Hansen to see his etchings, while hosts Lou Rawls and Gail Martin stick with oldies like 'Chicago.'" |
