TECHNICAL COMPETITION
A new concept in wrestling camp. Learn your technique in the morning ...then get ready. Every afternoon features real matches with every camper expected to wrestle three times a session. Keep track of your scores and have them documented. Wrestlers will also be sitting off the mat and will be assigned to ref and score the other matches. Fifteen matches, fifteen different opponents. Competition is key to getting to the next level. State champions are urged to attend this camp. Their tuition is FREE.All levels of wrestling will be accepted. Wrestlers will be divided by age, weight, and level of experience, K-12. A special Developmental Camp for beginners will be provided.
CAMP PHILOSOPHY
Growing up around a rich tradition of wrestling, Royce understands the meaning of competition. Royce believes that the only way to truly get better is to compete with a variety of other wrestlers. Royce's "Combat Camps" offer "State Champions" the opportunity to come tuition free because it only elevates his camps. "To get better, you must wrestle opponents that are better than you. This has been the genius of the Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling Program."
CAMP FORMAT
Experience a new style of wrestling camp. The technical process will be employed Iowa Style. Unlike most camps, techniques will be taught in waves. Wrestlers will be put in the learned positions and instructed to go live. This is the Dan Gable process. Learn the techniques through controlled live wrestling. Not light drilling!
CAMP NOTES
Every camper is urged to bring their own water bottles, towels, mouthpieces, toothpaste, extra money for snacks, and video games.

Objectives
Our
entire staff will be dedicated to assisting the campers in achieving their
goals. The staff will
reinforce aggressiveness through repetitive drills.
In wrestling, technical
skills are a must if you are striving to become successful at any level.
At this camp we will focus on the essential techniques that
will help you become the best wrestler you can be.
Each session you will learn set-ups,
leg attacks, finishes,
bottom wrestling, turning, pinning,
riding, and freestyle wrestling.
Each session will conclude by putting what you have learned to the
test in live wrestling situations.
Our staff will evaluate, monitor,
and participate in all areas of the camp throughout the week.
Unique
Feature
This
is the second year the Purdue Wrestling Commuter Camp has come to
Canfield. Last year the
response was outstanding and we are anticipating an even larger group of
athletes based on the camp’s philosophy that technique is best retained
in a small group environment. Therefore,
we are limiting the camp to the first 100 wrestlers. The staff also has
the ability to breakdown technique to all age levels and weights. After each session has been taught, wrestlers who weigh 180
pounds or more will work individually with Heavyweight World Team Member,
Tom Erikson, on a special section of the mat.
In addition to the Big Man area,
there will be a designated area where wrestlers will be paired
