Objectives
Our
entire staff will be dedicated to assisting the campers in achieving their
goals. The staff will
reinforce aggressiveness through repetitive drills.
In wrestling, technical
skills are a must if you are striving to become successful at any level.
At this camp we will focus on the essential techniques that will
help you become the best wrestler you can be.
Each session you will learn set-ups,
leg attacks, finishes,
bottom wrestling, turning, pinning,
riding, and freestyle wrestling.
Each session will conclude by putting what you have learned to the test
in live wrestling situations. Our
staff will evaluate, monitor, and
participate in all areas of the camp throughout the week.
Unique
Feature
This
is the second year the Purdue Wrestling Commuter Camp has come to Canfield.
Last year the response was outstanding and we are anticipating an even
larger group of athletes based on the camp’s philosophy that technique is best
retained in a small group environment. Therefore,
we are limiting the camp to the first 100 wrestlers. The staff also has the
ability to breakdown technique to all age levels and weights. After each session has been taught, wrestlers who weigh 180
pounds or more will work individually with Heavyweight World Team Member, Tom
Erikson, on a special section of the mat. In
addition to the Big Man area, there
will be a designated area where wrestlers will be paired according to size and
skill and counselors will work with them separately.
