Findlay High School would like to host a varsity wrestling tournament for the 2002-2003 season.  Findlay is a Division 1 school located just of I-75.  We are approximately an hour from Toledo, hour and a half from Columbus and two hours from Dayton.  We are interested in bringing in a competitive mix of teams from all Divisions.

We would like to run one day (2pt), 10 team dual meet tournament.  We will have 2 pools of five teams and wrestle round robin, with one bye round per team.  The teams with the best records in each pool will wrestle each other for placement, giving everyone 5 matches on the day.  Team and individual awards are still being worked out.  We are looking at December 7^th, 2002 as the tournament date.  Teams already being contacted through their Athletic Departments are:

Weigh-ins :                          Saturday, Feb. 2, 4:00-6:00 p.m. (ALL Divisions)

                                                Div. 0, I & II - Sunday, Feb. 3, 7:00-8:00 a.m. (NO ENTRIES PAST 8:00 a.m.)

                                                Div. III, & IV - Sunday, Feb. 3, 9:00-10:00 a.m. (NO ENTRIES PAST 10:00 a.m.)

Wrestling Begins :                Divisions 0, I & II - 9:00 a.m.

                                                Divisions III & IV - 12:00 p.m. (or shortly thereafter.....)

Rules :                                   NO HIGH SCHOOL Wrestlers allowed

                                                Modified High School, except the following:

                                                - 8 (1/2)mats will be used *In 2001 we used four full mats total.*

                                                - Wrestlers will only be allowed to compete in 1 weight class in 1 division (as per National Federation Rules)

                                                - 1-3 minute period

                                                - No referee’s position (except for tiebreak)

                                                - Out of Bounds or Lack of Activity Results in Neutral Start

                                                - 10 Point technical Fall

                                                - 1 minute Sudden Death Overtime; 30 second Tiebreak if needed (same as HS)

Entry Fee :                            $12.00 if postmarked on or before January 28, 2002 ($15.00 after 1/29/02 or at weigh-ins)

Individual awards :               Trophies to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place, medals to 4th place

Team Awards :    Team trophies to 1st & 2nd place - 20 wrestlers can score (1^st – 5pts., 2^nd – 3pts., 3^rd – 2pts., 4^th – 1pt.)

                                                Roster must be turned in to Tournament Director BEFORE tournament begins.

Admission :                          Adults - $3.00                       Students - $2.00     Family Pass - $7.00

Qualifier :                             Individuals placing in the top 3 of their weight class will qualify for the 2001 Tournament

                                                of Champions to be held April 2002 in Columbus, Ohio.

Food :                                     Concessions will be available ALL DAY!! NO COOLERS, FOOD or DRINKS ALLOWED IN GYM!

ANNUAL BIDDY POLAR BEAR OPEN (February 10, 2002)

From East: Exit St. Rt. 2 at St. Rt. 4, turn South (left) at Bogart road (1st. Road and light) turn West (right) 3 miles. Road ends at MHS. 

From West: Exit St. Rt. 2 at St. Rt. 269, turn South (right) follow 269 signs right, then left into Castalia. At light turn left, at fork turn right.

From South: From St. Rt. 4, turn left at Bogart Road 3 miles west to end at MHS.

Age as of the day of the tournament. Proof of age required at the weigh-ins.

AGE AND WEIGHT DIVISIONS: Weight classes will be determined after weigh-ins
