How Do I Do This ?

Our yard 'before'

Our yard 'after'

Below are a number of Ohio-specific handouts with information & tips to help you invite nature to your yard. These are the same documents we reference when we speak with people about wildlife friendly yard & gardening practices.

Attract Hummingbirds to your Ohio yard Environmentally Friendly Lawn And Garden Care
Attract Butterflies to your Ohio yard Fall Yard Care That's Nature Friendly
Attract Native Songbirds to your Ohio yard Some Ohio Native Plant Sources
Remove Grass Easily

Once you've made some changes, you can apply for habitat certification on-line or by mail.

Online Habitat Certification

This link also includes a PDF printable application form for mailing if you prefer that method. Of course, your yard doesn't need to look like a ‘nature preserve' in order to be certified. Just check off the right number of nature friendly items in each of the categories -- it's quick & easy.
