The Ohio Railway Museum
Worthington Ohio
1998 Season
50th
Anniversary
The Ohio Railway Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to
the preservation and interpretation of the railroad history of Ohio and
the United States. Our mission is to promote the appreciation of railway
history and its role in the growth of developing industrial technology
in Ohio and the United States and to provide an interactive educational
experience to the public. Founded in 1948, the Ohio Railway Museum is the
fourth oldest rail museum in the United States, and may have been the very
first one to operate. With a unique and varied collection, the Museum began
with the acquisition of Ohio Public Service interurban car #21, which is
now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The collection
has grown to over 30 pieces, including streetcars, interurbans, passenger
and freight cars, motor cars, railway construction equipment, and Norfolk
and Western steam passenger locomotive #578. The Museum operates on a mile
of former Columbus, Delaware and Marion Electric Co. interurban right of
way in Worthington, Ohio.
