I saw the Airplane a lot in those days, but one
time that sticks in my mind was a weekend bill at Winterland with the Grateful
Dead (May 2-3, 1969). I went on Friday and the Dead opened for the
Airplane. I went on Saturday and the Airplane opened for the Dead (or was
it vice-versa?). Anyway at the end of the show on Saturday they said "we've
had such a good time we're coming back tomorrow night--tell your friends."
I went back on Sunday and since the show hadn't been advertised there must
have been only a couple of hundred people there.
At some point during the weekend I brought a camera so here are the pictures
I took. Hope you like 'em.
