HISTORY of the COUNCIL

The history of the council is a long and complex story. The council started in the city of Leth Deriel. It was then known as the "Ruling council of Leth Deriel". Our goals were to take control of the city of Leth Deriel, then seek recognition from the government of Zoluren.

On the Tenth day of Nissa in the year 358, we made our move. We assembled at the sacred Sana'ati tree at the center of Leth Deriel and declared our goal of ruling the city. Minutes later we sent a letter to her majesty, Queen Morganae of the Mountain Elves, to inform her of our intent and to make sure that she understood that the region was still stable.

We then began working on two goals. One, the stepping down of Lindryl as mayoress of Leth Deriel and two, the official recognition of Zoluren.

Lindryl, at the time, was missing. No one had seen her or knew where she was. During her absence the council took it upon themselves to rule the city. She did not resurface until Prince Belrendrick's assassination and we did not wish to cause any more stress on her. Even though she was, due to our politics, at odds with us, we knew she was a fine woman and an Elf.

Once things settled down, we approached her at the Ice Festival. The conversation between Voice Mordiazi and Mayoress Lindryl started out heated but soon cooled and became more civilized. This was the first setback of the Council. Lindryl refused to release her grip upon the city and remove herself from the office of Mayoress.

Our only hope was to curry favor with the royal family of Zoluren, to which Lindryl was close friends. Things did not look good for our council.

While Prince Sirolarn was still just regent of the Principality, we started working on him, giving him a gift of a leather ankle sheath made by a local merchant in Leth Deriel. For his coronation we again gifted him with a magic armband which enabled him to cast the spell, "shadows".

Less than a month after his coronation he sent his page, Midjure, to us and finally set up the meeting we had been waiting for.

The meeting started with a play put on by the Council's bardess and head of the Leth Deriel Troupe, Seraana. They play was beautiful, poking fun at the dark lord Sorrow and his henchmen. This definitely set the meeting off on the right foot.

Once the meetings started, the council had to explain to the Prince what the council stood for, what we had accomplished in the past and where our loyalties really lay. He wasn't completely convinced of where our loyalties lay and appointed his page to seek out any evidence of treason by the council. The meeting was set to reconvene after a weeks time.

When the council again met with the Prince, it was unsure of what Midjure found. Though the council did not do anything traitorous they did not know whether something would be fabricated by the page or his assistant in this matter, Inquisitor Anamir.

The first foot fell when the Prince announced that the council had been cleared of all counts of treason. He also stated that he spoke with Mayoress Lindryl and that she supported a lot of the council's goals and aims.

The second fell when he also gave the council the order to pack up. He had just appointed the council as the government of the ruined city of Dirge.

About the year 1410, The Duke of Berry entrusted Paul Limbourg and his brothers with the illumination of the Très Riches Heures. Never before had a calendar been illuminated with such magnificent full page miniatures, depicting scenes in the life of the court  and the surrounding countryside. 75 years were spent on producing this unique piece and the Duke himself did not live to see the completion of his book.
