(By Penny A. Proctor.  A Drabble.  Paramount owns Star Trek Voyager and its characters. A companion piece to Season 1’s "Cathexis")

What a remarkable day.

Before today, I never believed in a "soul" separate from our cellular structure.

Before today, I trusted Tuvok without question.

As a scientist, I should appreciate the opportunity to test assumptions with empirical data. As a person, though, I was entirely comfortable with my absolutes.

At least the day has validated my trust in Chakotay. Surely his fundamental values were reflected by determination of his disembodied … consciousness … to save the ship.

I wonder how it felt.

I wonder what the "mountains of the antelope women" are like.

I wonder if he’ll ever tell me.
