"Do you trust me, Chakotay?"
He caught a bitter laugh in his throat. "Shouldn’t I be asking you that question?"
Janeway was unmoved. "You asked why I didn’t tell you about Tom’s assignment. And my response is, do you trust me?"
"Have I given you reason to think I don’t?" Then he knew. He had, by chasing after Seska without her knowledge. How long would that error haunt them? Would she never understand? "Yes," he said quietly. "I trust you."
"Then perhaps we’ve both made mistakes." She extended her hand. "A fresh start?"
He accepted the handshake with relief. "Agreed."
