Hi Classmates,

Can you believe that it soon will be 50 years since we graduated from good old USHS? Yes, we know our 50th year won't be 'till 2005, but that will come around soon so we have gotten an early start on our plans. After gathering a lot of ideas we think we have a great Reunion Weekend planned with activities to interest everyone. A lot of volunteers are already hard at work on the preparations. But the thing that will make it a success is for you to be there, so please plan now to attend.

The reunion will be May 19th through May 22nd 2005. These dates were chosen to make sure we include the USHS Alumni Banquet on Saturday May 21st as one of our major activities. We will be honored at that event as the 50th year class, and the banquet will give us an opportunity to see old friends from other classes. We do have plans from Thursday night through Sunday morning, but if you can't make it to all of these events the Friday night and Saturday activities will be the highlights of the weekend when we hope to see everyone.

Our class has had some truly great reunions in the past and many of you requested that we use some of the same ideas again. As you review the following schedule you will see that it includes plenty of informal time to socialize as well as some interesting new ideas. The events are important and we will work to make sure they are well prepared. But, the main focus of the weekend is just getting together with old classmates. We are past the time when people are worried about impressing others… we just want to see you !

So here is the schedule….

Thursday Evening ....May 19, 2005 ...We will get together at classmate Sara Lou (Miller) Brown's home for an informal evening of socializing and card games. This was a very popular activity at our last reunion and we want everyone who can make it to attend. If you enjoy a social card game you're sure to find others who will join you. Don't worry if you are not interested in playing cards or other games since the focus is just on getting together in a relaxed environment and renewing old acquaintances. Be ready for some good times and wild stories !

Friday &endash; May 20. ...Golfers will meet for a round or two in the morning (while the rest of us recover from Thursday night!). During the day those of you who haven't been back to Upper for some time will have the opportunity to "tour the town" at your own pace. A written guide to this tour is being prepared and will be available to all. You'll find that Upper has had many interesting developments since we graduated. And, of course, there will be a great chance to see old friends whether or not they are from the Class of '55.

Late Friday afternoon at 5:30 PM we will have a tour of our old High School. This has been a very popular event for some other classes and we hope you will all make it. Get ready to return to the memories of the mid 50's as you wind through the building where we spent so many pleasant days.

Following the High School tour we will have our own 50th reunion dinner. While we will have a short program it will be another time to relax and catch up on the friendships of yesterday. This will be one of the major events of the weekend.

After dinner we will move on to classmate Larry Swihart's home. Larry has a big building that provide a great location to relax, have a beverage and mingle. Cards and other games will be available again, and we are looking forward to a great (and possibly long) evening.

Saturday May 21.......Golfers again will hack their way through Saturday morning. Throughout the day we will get together informally at Larry's for further socializing, games and relaxing. If the weather is as good as we hope it will be we'll have some fun inside and outside his big building. You'll be free to come and go throughout the day, but we hope you'll spend some pleasant hours at Larry's.

The USHS Alumni Banquet is Saturday evening, and we will attend as the honored 50th year class. We hope to see all of our classmates there, and to renew contacts with many other USHS alumni.

After the banquet we will return to Larry's. By Saturday evening we will all be reacquainted and we should have a great time. Who knows how late this event will continue ? Please make sure you make it to all of Saturday night's activities even if you can't get to any of the others.

Sunday May 22....We will join together late Sunday morning for a Brunch back at Sara Lou Brown's home. This was something we did at our last reunion and was popular with everyone. By Sunday we should be sharing some wild tales, and we will have a final chance to say goodbye to those who will be traveling back to other locations.

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT !

We hope the mix of events pleases everyone, we have tried to make it appealing. But the success of our Reunion will really come down to one thing… we need each and every classmate to attend.

We'll be sending a further mailing this fall, but please respond as soon as you can to the enclosed request for information. Joan (Worline) Wood will be preparing a book which will bring us up to date on all our classmates. Her husband, Larry, will also be putting together a professional quality video for the Class of '55. These items, to be distributed to all classmates, will be keepsakes we will cherish for the years to come.

We are still finalizing exact times and costs. We'll keep the costs reasonable so don't let that be a concern. You'll get all this information in the fall, but for now just make sure the weekend is set aside in your 2005 plans.

If you have any comments, questions or suggestions please include them with the information you send in, or email thenige@ameritech.net .

Let's Make This Our Best Reunion Ever

45th Reunion Agenda

June 22, 2000 Poker/ Bridge/Euchre at 212 Dogwood Lane

June 23, 2000 Dinner at Muggsy's

June 24, 2000 Hog Roast at Ed Kuenzli's

June 25, 2000 Breakfast at at 212 Dogwood Lane

*************************************************

The class of '55 had a wonderful reunion renewing old friendships. Card playing, golfing, eating together at Muggsy's, more golfing, enjoying a hog roast at "Special Ed's", and topped off with a "brunch" at Slou's. Nice weekend and all enjoyed swapping stories and thrice told tales of times gone by.

Class President Tom Henige did an admirable job of MC'ing the '55 Clambake at Special Ed's. .Although he told several whoppers, no one called for impeachment of this president and it is unlikely he will be disbarred. . David Swinehart offered a prayer and remembrance and a moment of silence for those who passed away.

One of the classmates works at a nuclear lab in New Mexico, hiding secrets and disposing of nuclear wastes, one works at a visitors center, one owns the Trading Post, one is a preacher, one is a lay preacher and a George Mason staffer, one was a former OSU professor, several are farmers, one is working for a big time computer consulting firm near Cleveland, one operates a landscape service, one is a good golfer and a retired chemistry teacher in the Cleveland area, one is a weight lifter, and quite a few are retired. One flew in from Seattle, one from New Mexico, one came from PA, one has a split home (FL and OH), one came from Indiana and one from Fairfax, VA.

Most were Republicans, but a few were devil's advocates and at least one had intelligent independent views on all situations. Egads! one wants to move to New York to vote for Hillary. A truly enjoyable weekend.

Several classmates from other classes are planning a cruise to Alaska this summer. That is a good idea for you, maybe, to organize a cruise or a road trip for your class. Nice way to get reacquainted or renew old friendships.
