The Handshue Family Westies

Seasons Greetings from the Handshue Family Westies

Brewster, Bannie and Beasley

Our first Westie.  Duffer brought years of joy to our household and defined us as Westie owners.  I can't begin to explain his personality.  For those fortunate enough to spend any time with him, you know exactly what I mean. Other dogs will fill my heart; I will feel fortunate if I have another that fills my soul as Duffer did for so many years.
Duffer, August 1988 - August 2004
The Westie that never grew up.  Even in her old age, she was mistaken for a puppy.  A truly sweet dog that always had a friendly lick for anyone she met.  For a time, we were the proud parents of three Westies. (see below)  Abbey's time as the "queen of three" was short.  Cancer finally took it's toll and she joined Duffer on a cold December day.  Play on good friends!

Brewster, or Boo Boo, is the King of the house.  He more resembles a white Scottie rather than a Westie at times.  His favorite past time is chasing lights and shadows, flies, birds, anything that moves.  He also spends time being Bannie's punching bag, but rather enjoys it.

He begrudgingly takes his walk every morning, because he knows it is followed by breakfast.

Bannie, named for the Single Malt (Oban) was a rescue dog who came into our lives rather unexpectedly.  It took her all of 5 minutes to make herself right at home.  I don't know who could give up this dog, but it is our good fortune. Her nickname is "Woo Doggie".  She is not at all shy and will not be ignored.

Don't tell Brewster, but Bannie is boss.

Beasley is rescue dog who claimed us.  We visited our local rescue after an emergency call for blankets, food or donations (a rescued dog unexpectedly had puppies).  11 Westies and an out of place Cairn.  What fun.  Beasley is small, only 11 pounds, but she runs the house.  She goes from 100 mile per hour to the greatest lap dog.  The other two think she is a good addition also!  One nickname is Miss Wiggles.  She does not wag her tail, she shakes her whole body.
