Unit 1: Ties to Community examines early Ohio settlement and the first inhabitants. The quilts brought to Ohio by it's earliest settlers were reminders of the people and places they left behind.

Sunshine Quilt Auction - Annual event sponsored by the Sunshine Foundation - A Mennonite-affiliated, non-profit agency providing residential and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale  - Located in Kidron, Ohio, this annual event features an auction of over 150 Amish and Mennonite quilts.  Proceeds from the sale go to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). MCC is the relief, service and development agency of North American Mennonite and Brethren in Christ Churches.
